Jesus Christ Superstar 2019 tickets at Barbican theatre

The cast for Jesus Christ Superstar at the Barbican Theatre has been confirmed and tickets released.

Jesus Christ Superstar plays a limited 60 performance engagement at the Barbican Theatre between July 4 and August 24, 2019.

The principal cast will include Robert Tripolino as Jesus and Ricardo Afonso as Judas, with Sallay Garnett as Mary.

Matt Cardle plays the role of Pilate*, with Cavin Cornwall and Nathan Amzi as Caiaphas and Annas. Note: Cardle will not appear in performances on on Saturday 13 July (evening), Tuesday 30 July, Wednesday 31 July or Saturday 3 August (evening).

Joining them are: Samuel Buttery as Herod, Tim Newman as Simon, and Matthew Harvey as Peter.

Completing the cast are: Daniel Bailey, Bernadette Bangura, Robert Bannon, Cyrus Brandon, Melanie Bright, Georgia Carling, Dale Evans, Rosie Fletcher, Luke Hall, Simon Hardwick, Zac Hawkins, Dayle Hodge, Stevie Hutchinson, Cleopatra Joseph, Rachel Moran, Billy Nevers, Tinovimbanashe Sibanda and Elliotte Williams-N’Dure.

Directed by Timothy Sheader and choreographed by Drew McOnie, the production previously won the Olivier Award for Best Musical Revival in 2017.

Musical direction comes from Tom Deering with design by Tom Scutt, lighting by Lee Curran and sound design by Nick Lidster for Autograph.

Following its run at the Barbican, the production will transfer Stateside for a North American tour from October.

Featuring music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice, Jesus Christ Superstar is a 1970 rock opera that is loosely based on the final week of Jesus’ life.
