The Boy in the Dress musical full cast announced

The full cast has been announced for the musical adaption of The Boy in the Dress.

Based on the children’s book written by comedian David Walliams, the musical features a book by Mark Ravenhill with music from Robbie Williams and Guy Chambers.

Directed by Gregory Doran, The Boy in the Dress tells the story of 12 year-old school boy Dennis who prefers wearing girl’s clothes.

The Boy in the Dress musical will begin previews at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon on Friday 8 November.

Opening night is scheduled for 27 November with performances playing through to 8 March 2020.

The adult cast will feature Rufus Hound as Dennis’ dad, Irvine Iqbal plays shopkeeper Raj, Natasha Lewis plays Dennis’ best friend Darvesh’s mum, and Forbes Masson plays Mr Hawtrey, the headmaster from Dennis’ school.

They’ll be joined by Charlotte Wakefield as Miss Windsor, David Birch as Maudlin Street Captain, Max Gill as Big Mac, Ryan Heenan as Rory, Charlotte Jaconelli as Lorna, Christina Modestou as Miss Bresslaw, Alexander Moneypenny as Gareth, Ben Thompson as Oddbod, Jamie Tyler as St Kenneth’s Captain and Grace Wylde as Louise.

Completing the adult cast are Hannah Fairclough, Ahmed Hamad, Alim Jayda, Clancy Ryan, Cilla Silvia, Jack Anthony Smart and Georgie Westall.

The children’s cast will be led by Oliver Crouch, Jackson Laing, Tom Lomas and Toby Mocrei who share the role of Dennnis.

The role of Darvesh, Dennis’ best friend, will be played by Ethan Dattani, Shivain Kara-Patel, Kassian Shae Ahktar and Arjun Singh Khakh.

Lisa James, Dennis’ fashion-savvy friend, will be played by Asha Banks, Tabitha Knowles and Miriam Nyarko with Alfie Jukes and Zachary Loonie playing the role of his older brother John.
