After being made available to watch for free over the weekend (May 29-31), you can now rent or buy the digital download via Amazon Prime Video here.

2016’s television production of Hairspray is available to watch at home in your living room.

Based on the Broadway musical of the same name (which is in turn based on the 1988 film), Hairspray is set in 1960s Baltimore, Maryland and follows Tracy Turnblad as her dream to dance on The Corny Collins Show turns into a campaign for racial integration.

Hairspray Live! features Ariana Grande, Jennifer Hudson, Martin Short, Maddie Baillio, Billy Eichner, Kristin Chenoweth, Dove Cameron and Harvey Fierstein.

It was the latest show to be made available for free as part of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s new online series The Shows Must Go On which is making a selection of musicals available to watch online for free for a limited time.

Previous shows have included The Sound Of Music Live! as well as Lloyd Webber’s own works By Jeeves, The Phantom Of the Opera, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Jesus Christ Superstar.

While free to watch, viewers are encouraged to show their support by making a donation to charities alongside each video, including Acting for Others, Broadway Cares and Actors Benevolent Fund.
