New musical The Rhythmics announced with concept album released August 7

Brand new British musical The Rhythmics has been announced with a concept album due for release.

The show is co-produced by Aria Entertainment and Metta Theatre and will drop an album this Friday, August 7 after recording during lockdown.

It follows an all male rhythmic gymnastics performance ensemble who soar to worldwide fame.

A synopsis shares: "Hapless single-dad Grey is in a rut. Teenage daughter Silva packs him off to revive his rockstar dreams. He successfully auditions for ‘Nick & the Rhythmics’ only to realise… He’s actually signed up for an all-male Rhythmic Gymnastics troupe.

"Against the odds these burly blokes twirl their ‘ribbons of fire’ as far the World Championships – and along the way Grey finally learns to embrace life. Calendar Girls meets Full Monty in this joyous new musical."

The piece has a book and lyrics from Poppy Burton-Morgan with music and lyrics by Ben Glasstone.

The show will also have fully integrated BSL choreography from Mark Smith.

The cast for the upcoming cast album will feature Samuel Thomas, Neil McDermott, Kinny Gardner, Christopher Staines, Daniel York Loh, Kelly Price, Eleanor Kane and more.
