Ever After musical adaptation set for new workshop with Christy Altomare and Corey Cott

A new musical adaptation of Ever After is continuing to be developed.

Ever After The Musical is based on the 1998 film of the same name which starred Drew Barrymore and Anjelica Huston in a story inspired on the classic Cinderella fairytale.

A musical adaptation has been in the works for a number of years with previous productions at New Jersey’s Paper Mill Playhouse in 2015 and most recently Atlanta’s Alliance Theatre in 2019 with Sierra Boggess leading the cast.

A new workshop has now been announced for May 2021 with Anastasia’s Christy Altomare and Bandstand’s Corey Cott appearing as part of Discovering Broadway’s writers retreat program.

The musical has music by Zina Goldrich (Dear Edwina) and lyrics by Marcy Heisler (Dear Edwina) with a book by Heisler and Kate Wetherhead (The Devil Wears Prada).

Director Marlo Hunter (American Reject) said: “Ever After is the salve we all need right now—a witty, smart, and romantic new musical comedy with a lush and layered score. There’s no greater gift for a show in development than a safe, supportive space—and Discovering Broadway is just that.”

Goldrich added: “I’m so excited to get back in the room with Marcy, Kate, and Marlo. There is nothing better in the world than doing what you love with such intelligent, gifted, and funny women.”
