Shakespeare’s Globe reveals cast for A Midsummer Night’s Dream ‘spin-off’ Midsummer Mechanicals

Shakespeare’s Globe has revealed the casting for the premiere of Midsummer Mechanicals at Sam Wanamaker Playhouse.

Described as a “hilarious new follow-up to the play-within-a-play from A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, the piece will run from 28 July to 21 August 2022.

The show follows Peter Quince’s troupe’s attempt to recapture the success of their first hit show, Pyramus and Thisbe.

The is the first time the Globe is premiering a full-scale production for families and young people. Midsummer Mechanicals is a co-production with Splendid Productions, directed by Lucy Cuthbertson and Kerry Frampton and written by Kerry Frampton and Ben Hales.

On the cast, Melody Brown will play Patience Snout, Sam Glen will play Francis Flute, Kerry Frampton will play Nicholas Bottom and Jamal Franklin will play Peter Quince.

Completing the creative team are casting director Nicholas Hockaday, costume supervisor Sabia Smith, designer Rose Revitt and production manager Jody Robinson.
