Come From Away release date, cast and trailer for filmed version of hit musical

Come From Away movie cast and release date UK

A release date and cast has been confirmed for the filmed version of Come From Away’s Broadway production.

Critically acclaimed and award winning musical Come From Away shares the touching real-life story of the 7,000 air passengers from all over the world who were grounded in Canada during the wake of the 9/11 terror attacks, and the small Newfoundland community that invited these ‘come from aways’ into their lives.

Tony Award-winning Director Christopher Ashley’s production guides audiences through a colourful and spirited cast of characters, brought to life by the multi-award winning writing team of Irene Sankoff and David Hein.

A Broadway proshot including members of the original cast was filmed at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre in May and will be released worldwide on Friday, 10 September 2021 on streaming service Apple TV+.

The cast will be led by Jenn Colella, who was nominated for a Tony for her role of Beverley Bass.

Joining her are Petrina Bromley as Bonnie, Joel Hatch as Claude, Caesar Samayoa as Kevin J., Q. Smith as Hannah, Astrid Van Wieren as Beulah, Sharon Wheatley as Diane and Tony LePage as Kevin T., De’Lon Grant as Bob, Emily Walton as Janice, Jim Walton as Nick and Paul Whitty as Oz.

In the UK, Come From Away plays at the Phoenix Theatre in London’s West End.

Awarded the 2019 Olivier for Best New Musical and the Tony for Best Direction of a Musical, the show had been playing to sell-out audiences up until the pandemic closed theatres.
