New Winnie the Pooh musical to premiere off-Broadway this year

A new musical based on the Winnie the Pooh books is to be staged off-Broadway.

Winnie the Pooh: The New Musical Adaptation is to premiere in October at New York’s Theater Row.

The show will use life-size puppetry to bring together iconic characters Pooh, Christopher Robin, Eeyore and Tigger.

Songs will come from the Oscar and Grammy-winning Sherman Brothers – who provided music for Disney classics such as Mary Poppins and The Jungle Book – with additional music from A.A. Milne, Winnie the Pooh’s original creator.

Further details are to be announced.
