Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella musical set for Broadway in autumn 2022

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s new Cinderella musical is set to arrive on Broadway this autumn.

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella debuted in the West End last year after many delays due to the pandemic.

Now the show is aiming for a Broadway transfer by the end of 2022.

Casting breakdowns have gone live Stateside looking for actors for the production.

The details say that auditions are scheduled to take place in February 2022 ahead of rehearsals and opening night on Broadway in “Fall 2022”.

A theatre for the production is yet to be announced.

Webber previously spoke about his hopes of bringing the show across the Atlantic last year.

Speaking to the New York Post, he said: “I would think we’ll be open by late summer [2022].”

Reflecting on the reopening of Broadway, he added: “We got open in London six weeks ago — finally finally — with our shows, and you know to be back here is of course extraordinary.

“It’s so difficult to put into words, really, because it’s so moving for everybody involved in theatre to be back doing what they love. And that’s the bottom line of it all. We’re back doing what we’ve been put on the planet to do.”

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella features music from Webber with lyrics by David Zippel and an original story and book by Emerald Fennel.

The retelling of the classic fairytale focuses on Cinderella – played by Carrie Hope Fletcher in the West End – and Prince Sebastian, the younger brother to Prince Charming

The West End production is currently playing at the Gillian Lynne Theatre, booking through to May 2022.

Meanwhile, an original studio cast album is available to stream, download, on CD and Vinyl.
