New musical KPOP to open on Broadway in autumn 2022

New musical KPOP is to open on Broadway in autumn 2022.

Written by Jason Kim with music and lyrics by Helen Park and Max Vernon, KPOP first premiered off-Broadway in 2017.

The new Broadway production will run at the Circle in the Square Theatre, opening 20 November 2022 with previews from 13 October.

The show will star K-pop star Luna alongside Kevin Woo, Lee Min-young and Kim Bohyung.

Joining them are Marina Kondo, Joshua Lee, Lina Rose Lee, Zachary Noah Piser, Eddy Lee, Julia Abueva, Major Curda, Jinwoo Jung, Jiho Kang, Amy Keum, James Kho, Jully Lee, Timothy H. Lee, Abraham Lim, Kate Mina Lin, Aubie Merrylees, Patrick Park, and John Yi.

As global superstars put everything on the line for a special one-night-only concert, one singer – played by K-pop and musical theater sensation Luna – faces an inner struggle that threatens to dismantle one of the hottest labels in K-pop.

Pulsing with infectious beats, electrifying choreography, and breathtaking joy, KPOP is an all-consuming multimedia experience that explores the relentless discipline, raw talent, and commercial ambition behind the heart-thumping international phenomenon.

The Broadway production is directed by Teddy Bergman with choregraphy by Jennifer Weber, music direction by Sujin Kim-Ramsey, make up design by Joe Dulude II, hair and wig design by Mia M. Neal, projection design by Peter Nigrini, sound design by Peter Hylenski, lighting design by Jeanette Oi-Suk Yew, costume design by Clint Ramos & Sophia Choi, scenic design by Gabriel Hainer Evansohn and music production and arrangements by Helen Park.
