A Strange Loop has announced an official Broadway cast recording is on its way.

The Pulitzer Prize winning musical from Michael R. Jackson opened on Broadway at the Lyceum Theatre in April.

A cast recording from the show’s original off-Broadway run was released in 2019 and now a brand new Broadway cast album has been announced.

The album will be released digitally on streaming and download platforms from Friday, 10 June 2022.

Ahead of the full release, five tracks (A Strange Loop, Periodically, Intermission Song, We Wanna Know, and Inner White Girl) will be available to stream or download from 13 May along with pre-orders for the album.

Meet Usher: a Black, queer writer writing a musical about a Black, queer writer writing a musical about a Black, queer writer…

Michael R. Jackson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning, blisteringly funny masterwork exposes the heart and soul of a young artist grappling with desires, identity, and instincts he both loves and loathes.

Hell-bent on breaking free of his own self-perception, Usher wrestles with the thoughts in his head, brought to life on stage by a hilarious, straight-shooting ensemble. Bold and heartfelt in its truth-telling, A Strange Loop is the big, Black, and queer-ass Great American Musical for all.

The Broadway cast of A Strange Loop will be led by Jaquel Spivey as Usher with L Morgan Lee, James Jackson, Jr., John-Michael Lyles, John-Andrew Morrison, Jason Veasey and Antwayn Hopper.

The production is directed by Stephen Brackett with choreography by Raja Feather Kelly, music supervision by Rona Siddiqui, orchestrations by Charlie Rosen, scenic design by Arnulfo Maldonado, costume design by Montana Levy Blanco, lighting design by Jen Schriever, sound design by Drew Levy, intimacy director and casting by The Telsey Office/Destiny Lilly, CSA & Alaine Alldaffer.
