Come From Away to close on Broadway in October

Hit musical Come From Away is to close on Broadway in October.

The Tony-award winning show will play its final performance at the Schoenfeld Theatre on Sunday, 2 October.

At closing the production will have played 25 previews and 1,670 performances.

Come From Away shares the touching real-life story of the 7,000 air passengers from all over the world who were grounded in Canada during the wake of the 9/11 terror attacks, and the small Newfoundland community that invited these ‘come from aways’ into their lives.

In the UK, Come From Away continues performances at the Phoenix Theatre in London’s West End. You can book tickets and get more information here.

Directed by Christopher Ashley, the production has scenic design by Beowulf Boritt, costume design by Toni-Leslie James, lighting design by Howell Binkley, sound design by Gareth Owen, and orchestrations by August Eriksmoen.

Irene Sankoff and David Hein write the score which was nominated for a Tony award and picked up an Olivier, among many other accolades.

A filmed performance of the Broadway production was released last year on Apple TV+.

The cast for the Come From Away film is led by Jenn Colella, who was nominated for a Tony for her role of Beverley Bass (and others), alongside most of the original Broadway cast.
