Back to the Future Musical to open on Broadway in 2023

Back To The Future: The Musical is heading to Broadway!

Based on the iconic 1985 film of the same name the hit show is currently playing at London’s Adelphi Theatre in the West End.

It will soon be travelling across the Atlantic to make a Broadway bow next summer, opening at the Winter Garden Theatre on 3 August after previews beginning 30 June.

Original cast members Roger Bart and Hugh Coles will reprise their roles of Doc Brown and George McFly respectively. Further casting is to be announced.

Back to the Future follows Marty McFly who finds himself travelling back in time 30 years thanks to a time-traveling DeLorean created by Dr. Emmett “Doc” Brown.

The musical adaptation has a book by Bob Gale, writer and producer of the original film with music and lyrics by Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard plus songs from the film.

John Rando directs with choreography from Chris Bailey, design by Tim Hatley, lighting by Tim Lutkin and Hugh Vanstone, sound by Gareth Owen, video by Fin Ross, music supervision and arrangements by Nick Finlow, orchestrations by Ethan Popp and Bryan Crook, dance arrangements by David Chase and music direction by Ted Arthur.

The show had its premiere in February 2020 in Manchester before opening in London in September 2021. Earlier this year the production picked up the Olivier Award for Best New Musical.

An original cast recording from the show is available to stream, download and buy here, released in March 2020.

The current West End cast features Ben Joyce in the role of Marty McFly while Doc Brown is portrayed by Roger Bart.
