A musical adaption of The Devil Wears Prada with music from Elton John has announced a pre-Broadway try out.
The production will premiere in Chicago in July 2020 ahead of an expected Broadway run.
The Devil Wears Prada musical is based on the 2003 novel of the same name by Lauren Weisberger and the 2006 movie adaption which featured Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway.
Featuring music from John, the show will feature lyrics from Shaina Taub and a book by Paul Rudnic with music supervision from Nadia DiGiallonardo.
John commented: “Re-imagining The Devil Wears Prada for the musical theatre is super-exciting.
“I’m a huge fan of both the book and the feature film, and a huge aficionado of the fashion world. I can’t wait to sink my musical teeth into this hunk of popular culture.”
The Devil Wears Prada follows young writer Andy who lands a job at a prestigious magazine as a junior assistant to the publication’s editor-in-chief Miranda.
Casting has yet to be confirmed but a recent workshop feature Emily Skinner in the role of fashion magazine editor Miranda Priestly with Krystina Alabado as her new junior assistant Andrea ‘Andy’ Sachs, Heléne Yorke as senior assistant Emily Charlton and Mario Cantone as the magzine’s art director Nigel Kipling.
