Dave Malloy’s Preludes concert to stream online from Southwark Playhouse

A new concert production of Dave Malloy’s musical Preludes is to stream online from the Southwark Playhouse.

Written and composed by Dave Malloy, Preludes is a musical fantasia set in the mind of Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff. The plot follows Rachmaninoff as he undertakes hypnotherapy sessions to help overcome depressive paranoia and anxiety.

A mixture of Rachmaninoff and Malloy’s own composition combine to create a dream-like world which has won critical acclaim since its original premiere in New York in 2015.

Following the show’s London premiere at Southwark Playhouse in 2019, the musical returns in May with a live streamed concert production, including a brand new song by Malloy receiving its world premiere.

The cast will feature Rebecca Caine, Norton James, Georgia Louise, Tom Noyes, Keith Ramsay and Steven Serlin.

Alex Sutton will direct with lighting design from Andrew Exeter, sound design from Andrew Johnson and musical direction from Jordan Li-Smith.

Preludes in Concert streams 7 – 8 May 2021 from Southwark Playhouse. Get tickets online here.
