Bristol Old Vic’s 2019 A Christmas Carol revival will stream on YouTube later this month.

The Christmas production will be made available for free the first time to audiences around the world over the festive period.

The show will premiere on YouTube on 16 December 2021 from 6PM, available to 1 January 2022.

Starring the charismatic John Hopkins as Scrooge, Dickens’ classic is adapted by Tom Morris (Touching the Void; The Grinning Man), directed by Lee Lyford (The Elephant Man), with music and lyrics by Gwyneth Herbert (The Snow Queen) and is the ultimate festive feast for all the family.

Bristol Old Vic has also announced that another of its productions will be available to watch at home this month.

Sky Arts will premiere the immersive 2021 film of the venue’s production of Touching the Void on 9 December at 9PM. It will be free to watch on Freeview Channel 11.

Be transported to the freezing heights of the Peruvian Andes, as the true story of Joe Simpson and Simon Yates’ perilous descent of Siula Grande becomes a breathtaking struggle for survival.

Directed by Tony Award-winning Tom Morris (War Horse) and based on Joe Simpson’s bestselling memoir, David Greig’s thrilling adaptation charts this astonishing story of human endurance. Life-affirming and often darkly funny, Touching the Void takes you on an epic adventure that asks how far you’d be willing to go to survive.

Following a sell-out West End run, a filmed version of Touching the Void was produced at the Bristol Old Vic earlier this year.
