John & Jen musical with Rachel Tucker and Lewis Corney streaming online

The new production of musical John and Jen from Southwark Playhouse is now streaming online.

The world premiere of the updated piece played at the London venue in the summer of 2021 between 28 July and 21 August.

Rachel Tucker and Lewis Corney star in the piece which has music by Andrew Lippa and lyrics by Tom Greenwald, who also both wrote the book, with orchestrations by Jason Robert Brown and Lippa.

A filmed version of the production is streaming now on BroadwayHD.

A synopsis for the musical shares:

John & Jen is an emotional rollercoaster that explores the dynamics of family relationships.

1985. John & Jen, brother and sister, born seven years apart, grow up together, totally inseparable. Jen makes a “forever pact” with her little brother to always protect him against anything and anyone, including their own dad.

2005. Jen, alone in Canada with her baby boy whom she has named John, a living memorial to the brother she failed to protect.

The beautiful and haunting score emotionally captures the zeitgeist of contemporary America.

The production is directed by Guy Retallack with musical supervisor Michael Bradley, musical director, Chris Ma, casting by Leon Kay Casting, scenic & costume designer Natalie Johnson, sound designer Andrew Johnson, production manager Matt Harper and stage manager Robyn-Amber Manners.

John & Jen first premiered off-Broadway in 1995 before a revival in 2015. An off-Broadway cast recording is available online here.
