Sea Girl: Sensory interactive experience inspired by the sailing adventures of Laura Dekker comes online

Carbon Theatre is to bring a new choose-your-own-adventure show online this Spring.

Sea Girl is a sensory interactive experience inspired by the sailing adventures of Laura Dekker which takes the whole family on a journey across the world.

Laura Dekker is the youngest person to have solo travelled across the world in a sailing boat, aged just 14 when she set off and 16 when she completed her trip. This work celebrates her magnificent adventure and shows how the determination of one girl changed the world!

Join Sea Girl to follow an adventure story about sailing around the world. Help Ellen, Naomi and Tarzoon, the cat, decide whether to meet turtles, explore the Caribbean or follow dolphins.

While targeted at children, the whole family can decide where to go and what to see. If at any point you need more time to answer the questions or make decisions, then you just press pause and play again in your own time.

This performance is accessible to disabled children and those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. Accompanying the visual experience are additional resources designed by sensory
engagement practitioner Natalya Martin, that explore the show through sights, smells, sounds and textures. This show is fully captioned and aims to remove access barriers to enable disabled, neuro-divergent and D/deaf audiences to participate in the project.

Sea Girl is available online from 31 March to 30 April 2022. For more information and tickets, visit www.carbontheatre.org.uk/sea-girl
