The cast for the 2019/2020 panto at the King’s Theatre Glasgow has been confirmed.
This year’s special family show will be Jack and the Beanstalk and will feature Scottish Actor Jonathan Watson together with First Lady of Scottish Pantomime Elaine C. Smith and Scottish comedian Johnny Mac.
Watson will play the role of the King, while Smith and Mac stepping will play Dame Trot and Jack’s brother respectively.
Best known for his hit Scottish sketch show Only an Excuse?, Watson said: “I’m delighted to be returning to the King’s panto and thrilled to be joining the Queen of Scottish panto (and one of my favourite neighbours from Two Doors Down) Elaine and working with Johnny for the first time. They’re a great pair.
“It’s a real badge of honour to play the King’s given its panto history. Panto is very special, it’s hard work but the payoff you get performing in front of a live audience over the Christmas period is truly magical.”
Jack and the Beanstalk tells the story of poor country boy Jack who trades his family cow in for a handful of magic beans, which grow into a beanstalk leading to a giant’s castle.
Produced by Qdos Entertainment, The King’s Theatre pantomime will run from Saturday 30 November 2018 until Sunday 5 January 2020.
