Joe McElderry will lead the cast of the 2020 Panto at Newcastle Theatre Royal.
Produced by Qdos Entertainment, this year’s show will be Humpty Dumpty with tickets on sale now here.
Joe rose to fame on The X Factor 2009, winning the series and going on to achieve a Number 1 single.
Joe has since appeared on TV in shows such as Pop Star to Opera Star and The Jump and on stage in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Club Tropicana, as well as his own tours.
He joins panto royalty Danny Adams, Clive Webb and Chris Hayward in this year’s egg-cellent family pantomime.
A synopsis of the brand new panto teases: “When the Wicked Witch of Wallsend places a curse on Nursery Rhyme Land and makes a magical Egg fall off the palace wall, a pantomime the likes of which you have never seen before begins as everyone tries to put Humpty back together again, but, one piece is missing, and where will they find it?”
Speaking on his casting Joe McElderry said: “I am so glad to have been asked by Michael to join the cast of Humpty Dumpty at Newcastle Theatre Royal, without doubt one of my favourite theatres in the world.
“I’m over the moon to get the chance to be at home in Newcastle over the festive period and absolutely delighted to join the legends that are Danny, Clive and Chris in panto-land.”
Humpty Dumpty plays at Newcastle Theatre Royal from Tuesday, November 24, 2020 until Sunday, January 17, 2021.
