Both performances will be filmed for transmission on the BBC later in 2022 with an exact broadcast date to be announced.

Hiddleston first appeared in the 20th anniversary revival production at Birmingham Rep last December for its opening night.

Artistic Director of The Rep directs the piece Sean Foley which stars Dennis Herdman, Mitesh Soni and Thom Tuck alongside the surprise guest at each show.

Other guests have included Ralph Fiennes, Ewan McGregor, Joanna Lumley, Daniel Radcliffe, Kylie Minogue, Nigel Havers, Denise Welch, Sir Ian McKellen, Dawn French and Sting.

Thom has written a play, an epic set in the French Revolution called ‘A Tight Squeeze for the Scarlet Pimple’. Dennis on the other hand, wants to continue with their double act. He believes that if they perform a tribute to Morecambe and Wise, Hamish’s confidence will be restored and the double act will go on. But first Dennis needs to persuade a guest star to appear in the play what Thom wrote…

The Play What I Wrote plays Bath Theatre Royal from 12 – 22 January with tickets on sale here.

The tour will then visit audiences in Shrewsbury, Salford, Chichester, Malvern, Cambridge and Sheffield.
