Fantastically Great Women Who Changed The World heads to Edinburgh Festival Fringe

Fantastically Great Women Who Changed The World is to come to Edinburgh Festival Fringe this summer.

The new musical, which is currently on a UK tour, will run from 4 – 29 August at The Grand at Pleasance Courtyard.

Based on the book of the same name by Suffragette descendant Kate Pankhurst, the show sees celebrated – and often forgotten – women from history brought to life on stage, including Rosa Parks, Sacagawea, Amelia Earhart, Marie Curie, Mary Seacole, Frida Kahlo, Jane Austen and Pankhurst’s own relative Emmeline.

Join our inquisitive heroine Jade as she breaks away from her class to take a peek behind the scenes at the not yet open Gallery of Greatness in the local museum.

Along her journey she is surprised to meet the original and incredible wonder women: Frida Kahlo, Rosa Parks, Amelia Earhart, Marie Curie, Emmeline Pankhurst to name just a few.

Making up the cast are Renée Lamb (SIX, West End; Be More Chill, The Other Palace and Shaftesbury Theatre; Little Shop of Horrors, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre), Christina Modestou (SIX, West End; We Will Rock You, Dominion Theatre; In The Heights, Southwark Playhouse), Jade Kennedy (The Snow Queen, Brighton Open Air Theatre; Billy Elliot, Victoria Palace Theatre), Kirstie Skivington 2 (Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, Apollo Theatre and The Crucible Sheffield; Jesus Christ Superstar, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre; Bend It Like Beckham, Phoenix Theatre), Kudzai Mangombe (Malindadzimu, Hampstead Theatre), Elise Zavou (Red Riding Hood, Theatre Royal Stratford East) and Clarice Julianda (Priscilla: Queen of the Desert, UK tour.

The musical has music by Miranda Cooper and Jennifer Decilveo with a creative team made up of dramatist Chris Bush, live arrangements by Jen Green, director Amy Hodge, designer Joanna Scotcher, choreographer Dannielle Lecointe, lighting designer Zoe Spurr and sound designer Carolyn Downing.

The show forms part of Pleasance Theatre Trust’s 2022 Edinburgh Fringe programme with all shows now on sale from pleasance.co.uk
