Grace Mouat and Jacob Fowler to lead cast of Cinderella at Hope Mill Theatre

Grace Mouat and Jacob Fowler are to star in Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella at Manchester’s Hope Mill Theatre.

The production, originally scheduled for 2020, will mark the UK theatrical premiere of the piece.

SIX, & Juliet and Legally Blonde star Grace Mouat will take on the lead role of Ella.

Grace Mouat said: “I genuinely cannot explain how excited I am to be playing Cinderella. It has been a dream of mine to be part of a Rodgers & Hammerstein musical and obviously the film is ICONIC!

“I cannot wait to meet the incredible company and get started on this new version in Manchester. ‘Impossible things are happening every day!’ Pinch me!”

Starring alongside Mouat will be Jacob Fowler (Heathers) as Prince Topher. He said: “I’m honoured to be a part of the European premiere of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella! It has been a dream of mine to sing a Rodgers and Hammerstein score, so to do so, opposite Grace and at the Hope Mill, is a privilege.”

Further casting is to be announced.

First written for television in the 1950s, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella held its premiere on Broadway in 2013.

The premiere full UK production will run at Manchester’s Hope Mill Theatre from 1 November to 11 December.

Inspired by the iconic fairytale of the same name, Cinderella features some of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s most beloved songs, including ‘In My Own Little Corner’, ‘Impossible/It’s Possible’ and ‘Ten Minutes Ago’.

Joseph Houston will direct with co-direction choreography by William Whelton, set and costume design by Elly Wdowski, assistant designer Alfie Heywood, new musical arrangements by Jason Carr, projection design by George Reeves, lighting design by Aaron J Dootson, sound design by Adam Fisher and casting by Jane Deitch.

The musical supervisor is Leo Munby, musical director Audra Cramer, wig designer Richard Mawbey, associate choreographer Charise Renouf, assistant costume designer Eve Salter, sound no 1. Josh Evans. Artwork is by Steph Pyne with images by Michael Wharley and video by Umbrella Rooms.
