Back to the Future Musical trailer revealed ahead of Manchester premiere

Christopher Lloyd stars in a new trailer for Back To The Future: The Musical ahead of its Manchester premiere.

Based on the iconic 1985 film of the same name, the Back to the Future musical will begin performances at the Manchester Opera House on February 20, 2020.

The new production will run for 12 weeks until May 17 before a planned transfer to London’s West End.

In a new trailer, the movie’s original Doctor Emmett Brown, Christopher Lloyd meets Roger Bart who will star as the Doc in the musical.

Back to the Future follows Marty McFly who finds himself travelling back in time 30 years thanks to a time-traveling DeLorean created by Dr. Emmett “Doc” Brown. Encountering young versions of his parents he must make sure that they fall in love or he’ll cease to exist, while also attempting to return to the present and save Doc’s life.

The musical adaption is directed by Urinetown’s John Rando with a book by Bob Gale, writer and producer of the original film.

The score will be made up of new music and lyrics by Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard plus songs from the film including Oscar nominated The Power Of Love.

Alongside Bart, the cast will star Olly Dobson (Bat Out of Hell) as Marty with Hugh Coles (The Festival) as George, Rosanna Hyland (School of Rock) as Lorraine and Cedric Neal (Chess) as Goldie.

They’re joined by Aidan Cutler as Biff Tannen, Courtney-Mae Briggs as Jennifer Parker, Will Haswell as Dave McFly and Emma Lloyd as Linda McFly.

Tickets for the run at the Manchester Opera House are on sale now.

Plans for the West End are to be confirmed.
