Zorro musical at Hope Mill Theatre full cast announced

The full cast has been announced for Zorro the Musical at Manchester’s Hope Mill Theatre.

The production will run between March 14 and April 18, 2020 with tickets on sale now.

The cast will feature Antony Costa as Garcia, Alex Gibson-Giorgio as Ramon, Emma Kingston as Luisa, Genevieve Nicole as Inez, Kit Orton as Don Alejandro and Benjamin Purkiss in the titular role of Zorro.

Completing the company are Ajjaz Awad, Amy Bastani, Isobel Bates, Ben Boskovic, Maxwell Griffin, Matthew Heywood, Jessica Pardoe, Thomas Ping, Seren Sandham-Davies and Stylianos Thomadakis.

Originally running in the West End in 2008, the musical is inspired by pulp magazine hero Diego de la Vega, better known as El Zorro

The musical features music from Gipsy Kings and John Cameron, a book by Stephen Clark and Helen Edmundson, and lyrics by Stephen Clark.

A synopsis teases:

In the scorching heat of California in 1805, a pueblo is under attack from its autocratic leader. Only a hero can save them. When the danger is at its greatest, a masked crusader appears from nowhere and saves lives. Who is he? Will he be their champion?

The famous tale of the masked hero, El Zorro, fighting for justice and freedom comes to the Hope Mill Theatre, Manchester in an immersive and thrilling new production with passionate, ‘get-on-your-feet’ music by The Gipsy Kings. International hits including Bamboleo, Baila Me and Djobi Djoba, feature alongside original music to tell a fresh new tale of love, courage and spectacle.

Directed by Christian Durham, the production at Hope Mill Theatre will welcome the audience to become a part of the story, invited to join in with flamenco dancing and enjoy tapas and sangrias as part of the night’s entertainment.

Zorro plays Hope Mill Theatre March 14 through to April 18.
