Back To The Future musical cast reunite for isolation performance of The Power Of Love

The cast of Back To The Future: The Musical has reunited in lockdown for a special performance.

Based on the iconic 1985 film of the same name, the Back to the Future musical started performances at the Manchester Opera House in February.

However performances, due to run until May 17, were cut short because of the ongoing theatre shutdown.

As the lockdown continues, the cast and orchestra from the show have shared a performance of The Power of Love by Huey Lewis and the News which features in both the original movie and musical adaption.

The group also spoke about the potential future of the musical, which was set for a West End transfer, saying: “Watch this space for future news!”

You can watch the performance below…

Back to the Future follows Marty McFly who finds himself travelling back in time 30 years thanks to a time-traveling DeLorean created by Dr. Emmett “Doc” Brown. Encountering young versions of his parents he must make sure that they fall in love or he’ll cease to exist, while also attempting to return to the present and save Doc’s life.

The musical adaption is directed by Urinetown’s John Rando with a book by Bob Gale, writer and producer of the original film.

The score is made up of new music and lyrics by Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard plus songs from the film.

Olly Dobson will play the lead role of Marty with Roger Bart as Doc, Hugh Coles as George, Rosanna Hyland as Lorraine and Cedric Neal as Goldie.

They’re joined by Aidan Cutler as Biff Tannen, Courtney-Mae Briggs as Jennifer Parker, Will Haswell as Dave McFly and Emma Lloyd as Linda McFly.

Completing the cast are Rhianne Alleyne, Amy Barker, Owen Chaponda, Jamal Crawford, Nathanael Landskroner, Bethany Rose Lythgoe, Cameron McAllister, Alessia McDermott, Laura Mullowney, Oliver Ormson, Mark Oxtoby, Katharine Pearson, Jemma Revell, Jake Small, Justin Thomas and Mitchell Zhangazha.
