Sunny Afternoon’s upcoming UK tour has been postponed until further notice.
The musical tells the story of the early life of Ray Davies and the rise to fame of The Kinks, featuring some of the group’s biggest songs such as You Really Got Me, Waterloo Sunset, All Day and All of the Night and Lola.
A new production was due to hit the road this summer, opening in Manchester in August before touring the UK into 2021.
However the ongoing theatre shutdown has forced producers to postpone the tour.
In a statement they said: “As we wait for further guidance from the government regarding the re-opening of theatres, and due to the inevitable knock-on effect that social distancing restrictions have had on the production’s timetable, we must regretfully inform you that the upcoming 2020-2021 tour of Sunny Afternoon has been postponed.
“We very much hope that we are able to get back out on the road again soon, and can’t wait to see all of our fans when we do!
“If you currently hold a ticket for the scheduled 2020-2021 dates, you do not need to do anything for the moment as your ticket provider will be in contact to arrange a credit voucher or refund.”
The Olivier Award-winning musical first played in London’s West End in 2014 for two years before a first UK tour in 2016.
