A musical version of TV show Dennis & Gnasher: Unleashed! will head out on a UK tour next year.
A stage adaption of the animated, family friendly programme is being worked on by Selladoor, who are behind Madagascar the Musical and Avenue Q.
BAFTA winning writer & director Will Brenton will pen the show, which will head to more than 40 theatres across the UK and Ireland in 2020.
The musical will feature Dennis and Gnasher’s “hallmark slapstick comedy and ageless humour” together with a repertoire of songs.
Emmy-nominated TV series Dennis & Gnasher: Unleashed! airs on CBBC in the UK and more than 20 other countries across the globe.
It features Dennis – voiced by Freddie Fox – his dogged side kick Gnasher and fearless mates including Rubi, JJ, Pieface and his pet potato Paul. Together they cook up crazy plans, get in all sorts of scrapes and take on every challenge, no matter how big.
Emma Scott, CEO of Beano Studios said: “Following the success of Dennis and Gnasher Unleashed around the world, bringing our gang to life on stage is the perfect next step. Selladoor are the ideal team to take on the exciting challenge of bringing the iconic characters to life in a show to entertain all ages.”
Casting, venues and dates for the tour have yet to be announced.
