Amélie features music by Daniel Messé, lyrics by Messé and Nathan Tysen and a book by Craig Lucas. It's based on the Academy Award and BAFTA nominated 2001 romantic comedy film and tells the story of a shy waitress living in Paris who discretely orchestrates the lives of the people around her.
The musical adaptation premiered in 2015 in Berkeley with Samantha Barks in the title role, before transferring to Broadway in 2017 with Phillipa Soo.
Amélie cast
Audrey Brisson will play the title role in the UK tour cast Amelie show while Nino Quincampoix will be played by Chris Jared (to May 18) and then Danny Mac (from May 22) on the tour.
The rest of the cast includes Oliver Grant as Lucien / Mysterious Man, Samuel Morgan-Grahame as Joseph / Fluffy, Sioned Saunders as Gina, Johnson Willis as Collignon / Dufayel, Caolan McCarthy as Hippolito / Elton John, Faoileann Cunningham as Georgette / Sylvia and Kate Robson-Stuart as Suzanne.
Completing the cast are Josh Sneesby as Blind Beggar / Gnome, Jez Unwin as Raphael / Bretodeau and Rachel Dawson as Andamine / Philomene.
Michael Fentiman will direct with design from Madeleine Girling, choreography from Tom Jackson Greaves, orchestrations and arrangements by Barnaby Race musical supervision and direction by George Francis, lighting by Elliot Griggs and sound by Tom Marshall.
Amélie UK tour dates and venues
The musical is holding its UK debut at the Watermill Theatre in Newbury from 11 April to 18 May 2019. The show will then head out on a tour from 20 May.
