Watch a first look at the cast of Disney’s Bedknobs & Broomsticks musical in rehearsals.

The hit movie makes its world premiere as an exciting new musical at at Newcastle’s Theatre Royal in August.

The production will then head out on tour with dates across the UK and Ireland throughout 2021 and into 2022.

The cast will be led by Dianne Pilkington as Miss Eglantine Price with Jacqui DuBois as Mrs Hobday, Charles Brunton as Professor Browne and Conor O’Hara as Charlie.

They’ll be joined by Mark Anderson, Jessica Aubrey, Georgie Buckland, Kayla Carter, Jonathan Cobb, Matthew Elliot-Campbell, Sam Lupton, Rob Madge, Vinnie Monachello, Nathaniel Morrison, Sadie-Jean Shirley, Robin Simoes Da Silva, Emma Thornett and Susannah Van Den Berg.

The Rawlins children will be played by Dexter Barry, Izabella Bucknell, Haydn Court, Poppy Houghton, Evie Lightman and Aidan Oti.

The musical will feature the movie’s original songs by the Sherman Brothers, including Portobello Road, The Age Of Not Believing, The Beautiful Briny with a new book, music and lyrics by Neil Bartram and Brian Hill.

The creative team will be led by Candice Edmunds (Director) and Jamie Harrison (Director/Set & Illusion Design) with Gabriella Slade (Costume Design), Sam Cox (Wig Design), Simon Hale (Orchestrator), Tom Murray (Musical Supervisor), Neil Bettles (Choreographer / Movement Director), Gareth Fry (Sound Design), Simon Wilkinson (Lighting Design), Gary Beestone (Production Manager), Jill Green CDG (Casting Director) and Jo Hawes (Children’s Casting Director).

A teaser for the stage adaptation reads: “When the three orphaned Rawlins children are reluctantly evacuated from London to live with the mysterious Eglantine Price, they have no idea what adventures lie ahead.

“Upon discovering Eglantine to be a trainee witch, they join forces to search for a secret spell that will defeat the enemy once and for all. Armed with an enchanted bedknob, a bewitched broomstick and a magical flying bed, they encounter surprising new friendships on their journey from Portobello Road to the depths of the beautiful briny sea.”
