Watch a first look at the cast of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast musical tour in rehearsals.
Based on the 1991 animated film of the same name, the Beauty and the Beast stage adaption will be starting a brand new tour in the UK from August.
Opening at the Hippodrome, the brand new production will be brought to life by the creative team that first originated the 1994 Broadway version.
The musical features a book by Linda Woolverton with music from Alan Menken and lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice.
Ahead of opening night you can watch the cast – led by Courtney Stapleton and Emmanuel Kojo in the titular roles – in rehearsals below…
Further casting includes Gavin Lee as Lumiere, Tom Senior as Gaston, Sam Bailey as Mrs Potts, Nigel Richards as Cogsworth, Martin Ball as Maurice, Samantha Bingley as Wardrobe, Emma Caffrey as Babette and Louis Stockil as Le Fou. The full cast is available here.
On joining the tour, Kojo said: “I’m really looking forward to seeing and working with Courtney but also the entire cast and meeting them not on Zoom but in person!!
Stapleton added: “Emmanuel and I know each other, we trained together but we haven’t seen each other since we left so it’s been really lovely to reconnect with him to go on this journey with him is going to be really exciting.”
After opening in Bristol the show will move to Liverpool Empire and then Edinburgh Playhouse before a Christmas season at Cardiff Wales Millennium Centre. Further tour dates for 2022 are to be confirmed.
Beauty and the Beast is a magical French tale, telling the story of a cursed prince forced to live as a terrifying monster until he finds true love and a village girl called Belle, who draws the cold-hearted beast out of his isolation with help from some enchanted, all-singing, all-dancing servants.
