Felicity Kendal is to lead the cast of a new UK tour of Noises Off.
Michael Frayn’s side-splitting backstage comedy will visit venues across the country ahead of a planned West End run.
Noises Off is a play-within-a-play, following the backstage antics of the cast and crew who are staging a touring production of the (fictional) play Nothing On.
Felicity Kendal will play Dotty Otley with further casting to be announced. Having first shot to fame in The Good Life, Felicity has won numerous awards for her stage work and recently appeared alongside Robert Lindsay and Sutton Foster in Anything Goes.
Lindsay Posner directs having previously helmed a production at London’s Old Vic. The full creative team is to be revealed.
Theatre Royal Bath Productions present the 40th anniversary production which will open at Theatre Royal Bath (21 September – 1 October 2022) before travelling to London’s Richmond Theatre (4 October – 15 October), Theatre Royal Brighton (4 October – 15 October) and Cambridge Arts Theatre (25 October – 29 October).
Details on the planned West End run are to be announced.
Noises Off first opened in London in 1982 before becoming a worldwide hit with numerous productions and revivals. A feature film of Noises Off was made in 1992, starring Michael Caine, Carol Burnett, Christopher Reeve and John Ritter.
