Amber Davies on her “challenging” new role in Bring It On’s UK tour

Amber Davies is getting ready to lead the cast of Bring It On’s UK tour.

Fresh from her stint in the West End in 9 to 5 The Musical, Davies says her next role is a “new challenge” for her.

Inspired by the film of the same name, Bring It On The Musical follows cheer-royalty and newly crowned Squad Captain, Campbell. When she is forced to move to the neighbouring hard-knock Jackson High, Campbell fears her life is over but an unlikely friendship catapults Campbell back into contention with a powerhouse squad and the fire to achieve the impossible.

“Being in 9 To 5 was amazing and I had two other leading ladies next to me — it was real girl power,” Amber said this week.

She told The Sun newspaper: “This next step is a new challenge because I’m leading the show and eyes are going to be all on me. But it’s an empowering female-friendly show too.

“Years ago cheerleading was all about sexy women at the side of a football pitch. Now it’s a very respected sport — you need real strength and skill.”

Joining Davies on the cast is Louis Smith (Rip It Up The 70s).

He said: “Bring It On combines everything I’m about: Gymnastics, music and dance. I’m buzzing to be involved.”

The musical features a book by Jeff Whitty with music by To Kitt and Lin-Manuel Miranda and lyrics by Miranda and Amanda Green.
