Dove Cameron has opened up about missing out on starring in the upcoming Wicked movie.

The 27-year-old talent, known for her roles in Disney’s Descendants and Apple TV+’s Schmigadoon!, has recently shared some insights into her audition for the iconic role of Glinda the Good Witch in Jon M. Chu’s anticipated film adaptation of Wicked.

During a candid chat with The Wrap, Dove revealed her journey towards attempting to clinch the role, originally brought to life by Broadway legend Kristin Chenoweth.

“I definitely went out for it. I know that for everybody who did go out for it, it was a very long process. It was one of the longer processes I’ve been a part of,” she shared.

Back in 2019, the buzz around Dove possibly joining the Wicked cast had fans on the edge of their seats.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight at the time, she expressed how much the role would mean to her, saying, “I don’t think everyone wants me to be Glinda but, I mean, it’s like the role of a lifetime. I’ve been dreaming of it since I was, like, 7. I mean, I should be so lucky to be considered.”

In case you missed it, the role of Glinda ultimately went to Ariana Grande, who will star alongside Cynthia Erivo’s Elphaba in the upcoming adaptation.

Dove, however, holds no grudges and is all cheers for her “dear friend” and Hairspray Live! co-star.

“I’m so excited for Ariana. She’s a genuinely dear friend of mine. We met when we were super young. I think she’s gonna kill it,” Dove gushed, adding, “I think the whole cast is phenomenal head to toe. So, like, as a fan, I’m really, really excited to see it.”
