Disney developing new movie musical based on songs of Lionel Richie

Disney is reportedly developing a new movie musical based on the songs of Lionel Richie.

The project is tentatively titled All Night Long after Richie’s 1983 hit.

Variety reports that the live-action film is “in early stages of development with a theatrical release in mind”

Richie is set to produce the show together with his manager Bruce Eskowitz while Pete Chiarelli (“Crazy Rich Asians,” “The Proposal”) is working on a screenplay.

It’s claimed that film bosses hope the movie could enjoy the same success as the likes of Mamma Mia! and Bohemian Rhapsody.

Richie – a Grammy and Oscar winner – has sold over 100 records with hit songs including Three Times a Lady, Hello and Endless Love.

Further details about the project, such as release date, are to be confirmed.
