Peter Pan & Wendy release date and trailer revealed for Disney+ movie

Disney’s live action Peter Pan movie is coming to Disney+ – here’s all you need to know!

Titled Peter Pan & Wendy, the film is an adaptation of its hit 1953 animated movie.

The new film is directed by David Lowery who is also penning the screenplay together with Toby Halbrooks.

The movie will be released online via Disney+ on 28 April 2023.

Based on the iconic story by J M Barrie, Peter Pan tells the adventures of a free-spirited and mischievous young boy who can fly and never grows up.

Meet the cast!

Jude Law will play Captain Hook in the film with Yara Shahidi as Tinker Bell, Alexander Molony as Peter Pan and Ever Anderson as Wendy.

They’re joined by Molly Parker as Mrs. Darling, Alan Tudyk as Mr. Darling, newcomers Joshua Pickering as John, Jacobi Jupe as Michael and Alyssa Wapanatâhk as Tiger Lily, and Jim Gaffigan as Smee.

Director/co-writer David Lowery said: “In making ‘Peter Pan & Wendy,’ we set out to craft a film that honors both the original J.M. Barrie text and Walt Disney’s animated adaptation; we wanted to invigorate our retelling with emotional sincerity, an open heart, and a grand yearning for adventure.

“Hundreds of incredible artists spent many years bringing this film to the screen; I’m excited for audiences to see their work, to go on this ride, and to rediscover an evergreen tale from a new perspective.”

2019 saw Aladdin and The Lion King both enjoy box office takings in excess of $1 billion while Mulan was released in 2022. An adaption of The Little Mermaid is due in cinemas later in 2023.
