Disney has confirmed its live action Peter Pan movie is coming to Disney+.
Titled Peter Pan & Wendy, the film is an adaptation of its hit 1953 animated movie.
The new film is directed by David Lowery who is also penning the screenplay together with Toby Halbrooks.
Based on the iconic story by J M Barrie, Peter Pan tells the adventures of a free-spirited and mischievous young boy who can fly and never grows up.
Jude Law will play Captain Hook in the film with Yara Shahidi as Tinker Bell, Alexander Molony as Peter Pan and Ever Anderson as Wendy.
They’re joined by Molly Parker as Mrs. Darling, Alan Tudyk as Mr. Darling, newcomers Joshua Pickering as John, Jacobi Jupe as Michael and Alyssa Wapanatâhk as Tiger Lily, and Jim Gaffigan as Smee.
Director David Lowery said: “Peter Pan has long been one of my favorite stories, partially because I’ve always resisted growing up, but also because of the heart, adventure and imagination that makes J.M. Barrie’s original tale so evergreen.
“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to redefine his iconic characters for a new generation – and even more excited that I get to do so with such an exceptional cast and crew.”
The film will be released online via Disney+ in 2022 with an exact release date to be confirmed.
Peter Pan is the latest live-action adaption of a classic animated Disney movie.
2019 saw Aladdin and The Lion King both enjoy box office takings in excess of $1 billion while Mulan was released last year. An adaption of The Little Mermaid is currently filming in the UK.
