Moana and Tiana animated musical series are coming to Disney+

Disney has announced two new animated musical series coming to its Disney+ streaming service.

The first is Tiana, based on the 2009 animated film The Princess and the Frog, which will be released in 2022 with Anika Noni Rose reprising her role as Princess Tiana.

Moana will follow in 2023 based on the 2016 film of the same title. Auli’i Cravalho is expected to reprise her title role for the series.

Further details about the series, including further casting and exact release dates, are to be confirmed.

Both shows follow Tangled: The Series which aired for three years on the Disney Channel between 2017 and 2020. The series is currently available to stream in full on Disney+ here.

Other animated TV series announced for Disney+ are Baymax! and Zootopia+, based on Big Hero 6 and Zootopia (Zootropolis in the UK) respectively. Both will be streaming from 2022.

Pixar has also announced two series inspired by its movies.

Streaming from 2021, Dug Days will be based on Up an follow the movie’s dog character Dug voiced by Bob Peterson.

2022 will see a Cars spin-off, following Lightning McQueen voiced by Owen Wilson.
