A number of musicals will perform live on ITV’s This Morning all this week.
The day-time series has announced its first ever ‘Musicals Week’ to celebrate the return of live shows in the West End and across the UK.
Marking the relaxation of lockdown rules and hopefully moving ever closer to a restriction-free Britain, This Morning’s Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby will show their support for the performing arts by launching a special ‘Musicals Week’.
As theatres up and down the country look to reopen their doors, This Morning viewers will get to see an exclusive performance each day from some of the best musical shows currently showing across London’s West End.
The five hit shows forming the themed week will include – Mamma Mia, Pretty Woman The Musical, Six, Tina Turner The Musical, and Everybody’s Talking About Jamie.
Today’s show (17 May) saw the cast of Mamma Mia! showcasing songs from the hit West End production.
Phillip Schofield said: “Welcome to This Morning at the musicals! We’ve got lots planned across the week but today to celebrate the reopening of theatres, we are welcoming to our outside plaza here, the cast of West End musical Mamma Mia.”
Following the performance, Holly Willoughby said: “I loved that SO much!”
This Morning’s editor, Martin Frizell said: “Following such a tough year for the performing arts industry I’m delighted to show our support to some of the best West End shows that are reopening their doors again. This Morning viewers will get to see some fantastic live performances throughout this week and hopefully be encouraged to return to theatres across Britain.”
This Morning airs weekdays from 10AM on ITV and on ITV Hub
