Sister Act 3 is on its way to Disney+, it’s been reported.
Whoopi Goldberg will reprise her iconic role of nightclub singer turned nun Deloris.
The original 1992 movie – which has been adapted into a stage musical – told the story of singer Deloris who is forced to join a convent after being placed in a witness protection program.
Its 1993 follow up Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit Deloris returned to her nun guise to help save a troubled school from closure.
Plot and full casting for the third instalment is to be confirmed.
As first reported by Deadline, Tim Federle who helmed High School Musical:The Musical: The Series is set to direct with Madhuri Shekar writing the script.
Meanwhile Whoopi Goldberg is scheduled to reprise her screen role on the stage next year.
Postponed from its original run in 2020 due to the pandemic, Sister Act will run in London at the Eventim Apollo from 19 July 2022 to 28 August 2022.
The Sister Act musical features music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Glenn Slater, book by Bill and Cheri Steinkellner with additional book material by Douglas Carter Beane.
