Frozen 2 spoilers: Sequel will begin with a time jump

Frozen 2 will begin a number of years on from the original movie, it’s been revealed.

The sequel to the smash hit 2013 animated musical will open in cinemas in November.

While Disney are keeping major details on the plot top secret, some little spoilers have been teased.

The studio’s Head of Animation Becky Bresee and Head of Effects Marlon West have revealed how Frozen 2 will start three years after the end of the first film.

The sequel will follow Elsa as she attempts to uncover the mystery behind her magical ice powers.

“It’s an evolution and an expansion of the story of Frozen, and many of the questions raised in the first movie become the mysteries that our gang are trying to solve in this film,” Bresee told The Hollywood Reporter. “Why was Elsa born with her powers?”

West added: “[It’s] about two sisters trying to stay together while the world tries to tear them apart.”

Disney teased alongside the clip: “Why was Elsa born with magical powers? The answer is calling her and threatening her kingdom. Together with Anna, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven, she’ll set out on a dangerous but remarkable journey.

“In Frozen, Elsa feared her powers were too much for the world. In Frozen 2, she must hope they are enough.”
