Disney’s Lion King first listen of Can You Feel the Love Tonight with Beyoncé and Donald Glover

Disney’s The Lion King has unveiled a first teaser of iconic song Can You Feel the Love Tonight.

The live action remake of the animated classic will open in cinemas on July 19.

Beyoncé and Donald Glover star as Nala and Simba respectively and a new TV advert showcases the pair’s take on Can You Feel the Love Tonight.

One of the original songs in the 1994 movie, Can You Feel the Love Tonight was written and performed by Elton John and won both an Academy Award and Grammy.

You can listen to the song in the new 30 second teaser for The Lion King below…

Alongside Beyoncé and Glover, The Lion King remake cast features Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa and Billy Eichner as Timon, while original cast member James Earl Jones reprises his role as Mufasa.

Director Jon Favreau previously teased that the new adaption would tell the classic story in a “different way” to the original film.

He explained: “The original holds up incredibly well, so the challenge here was to tell a story in a different way but still deliver on people’s expectations while surprising them somehow.”

The Lion King 2019 UK release date has been confirmed for 19 July 2019.
