How you can be in the Everybody’s Talking About Jamie movie

Hit West End musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie is being turned into a movie – and here’s how you can be a part of it.

New Regency, Film4 and Warp Films are producing the film which will feature the creative team behind the stage production: director Jonathan Butterell, writer Tom MacRae, composer Dan Gillespie Sells and choreographer Kate Prince.

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie tells the story of Jamie New, a sixteen-year-old who lives on a council estate in Sheffield. Jamie doesn’t quite fit in. Jamie is terrified about the future. He is going to be a sensation.

Supported by his brilliant loving mum and surrounded by his friends, Jamie overcomes prejudice, beats the bullies and steps out of the darkness, into the spotlight.

As shooting for the film wraps up, the team are inviting fans to be a part of the movie in Sheffield.

The invite reads: “Join us on Deerlands Avenue as we shoot one of the last scenes of our film and celebrate Sheffield and everything Jamie! There will be special guests, music and a film crew shooting! This is your chance to be in the film and have a great time whilst you’re at it!”

The shoot takes place on August 23 and you must register online HERE to be a part of it.

The cast for the Everybody’s Talking About Jamie film was confirmed earlier this year.

Recent Academy Award™ nominee Richard E. Grant plays former drag queen and Jamie’s mentor Hugo with BAFTA nominee Sharon Horgan as Jamie’s teacher Miss Hedge.

BAFTA winner Sarah Lancashire will play his mother Margaret while Shobna Gulati, from the original stage cast, will reprise her role of Ray.

After receiving over 3,000 applications from the open casting call, newcomer Max Harwood is cast in the title role of Jamie New.
