Scrooge: A Christmas Carol musical coming to Netflix with all star cast

A star-studded cast will feature in Netflix’s new animated festive musical Scrooge: A Christmas Carol.

The new retelling of the Charles Dickens the classic will arrive on the streaming service this festive season.

A teaser shares: “Charles Dickens’ ageless legend is reborn in this supernatural, time-travelling, musical adaptation of the definitive Christmas story. With his very soul on the line, Scrooge has but one Christmas Eve left to face his past and build a better future.

“Featuring re-imagined songs from the legendary and two-time Academy Award® winner Leslie Bricusse OBE, Scrooge: A Christmas Carol is one for a new generation to sing.”

Luke Evans stars as Scrooge with Olivia Colman as Past, Jessie Buckley as Isabel, Johnny Flynn as Bob Cratchit / Baker (aka Cratchit Snr), Fra Fee as Harry Huffam, Giles Terera as Tom Jenkins, Trevor Dion Nicholas as Present, James Cosmo as Mister Fezziwig and Jonathan Pryce as Jacob Marley

A release date for the movie is to be announced.

Director Stephen Donnelly (Lost in Oz) said: “It’s been a fascinating challenge to adapt such a beloved and often-told story and I think this version will give those who know A Christmas Carol all the things they expect but not as they’ve experienced them before.

“There are more than enough psychedelic, time-traveling and musical surprises to keep those familiar with the story on the edge of their seats.”
