Taylor Swift has revealed her new song ‘Beautiful Ghosts’ from the upcoming Cats movie.

Swift wrote the song with Andrew Lloyd Webber hand has recorded a version for the end credits of the film.

Since its world premiere in 1981, the musical Cats has become a worldwide hit with productions in over 30 countries seen by more than 70 million people.

Now a film adaption of the stage musical is on its way to cinemas, currently scheduled for release in December, 2019.

Alongside the original score by Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber, based on T.S. Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, the movie will feature the new song called Beautiful Ghosts.

The song has been composed by Lloyd Webber with lyrics from Taylor Swift, who stars as Bombalurina.

However the new number will be performed in the movie by white cat Victoria (played by Francesca Hayward) with Swift recording an alternative version for the end credits.

Today (November 15), Swift released her version of the song to listen to…

“When I read the screenplay, I said, ‘This is really interesting, but there’s nothing that this character [Victoria] sings,'” said Lloyd Webber. “Seems to me, if we’re going to use her as the eyes through which everything is seen, at some point we have to hear something from her point of view.”

I feel the new song is a pretty integral part of this new version of Cats. Without the new song, the movie would hugely be the poorer,” he added.

Cats is currently scheduled for release in the UK on December 20, 2019, by Universal Pictures.

Further casting includes Ian McKellen as Gus the Theatre Cat, James Jordan as Bustopher Jones and Jennifer Hudson as Grizabella.

Further casting includes Rebel Wilson as Jennyanydots, Idris Elba as Macavity, Judi Dench as Old Deuteronomy, Jason Derulo as Rum Tum Tugge and Ray Winstone as Growltiger
