Watch Jennifer Hudson perform ‘Memory’ from Cats live

Jennifer Hudson has given a live performance of her take on classic Cats song ‘Memory’.

Hudson plays the role of Grizabella in the film adaption of the stage musical which is in cinemas from Friday.

Ahead of the Cats movie release, Hudson has showcased her version of ‘Memory’ in a live performance on US TV.

She took to the stage of The Voice in America to sing the show stopping number.

Meanwhile, the Cats movie soundtrack has been made available to pre-order, released on Friday, December 20 alongside the movie.

Since its world premiere in 1981, the musical Cats has become a worldwide hit with productions in over 30 countries seen by more than 70 million people.

Alongside Hudson, the all star cast for the movie includes Taylor Swift as Bombalurina, Ian McKellen as Gus the Theatre Cat, James Jordan as Bustopher Jones and Jennifer Hudson as Grizabella.

Further casting includes Rebel Wilson as Jennyanydots, Idris Elba as Macavity, Judi Dench as Old Deuteronomy, Jason Derulo as Rum Tum Tugger and Ray Winstone as Growltiger

With a score composed by the legendary Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber, based on T.S. Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, the musical tells the tale of a group of so-called Jellicle cats deciding who will ascend to the Heaviside Layer.

The movie will be directed by Tom Hooper, who previously directed the Les Misérables film adaption, with screenplay by Hooper together with Lee Hall.

In addition, the film will feature choreography from Andy Blankenbuehler, who previously choreographed the 2016 Broadway revival as well as Hamilton.
