New musical & Juliet is to stay closed in London's West End until March 2021.

The jukebox musical opened at the Shaftesbury Theatre in November last year.

The show has extended its booking through to October 23, 2021.

However due to the ongoing pandemic performances will not be resuming until at least March 2021, producers have today announced.

They said: "It is with a heavy heart that we have to delay the reopening of & Juliet at the Shaftesbury Theatre until March 2021. We will continue to work closely with the Society of London Theatre, government bodies and health organisations in the UK to ensure we are following the latest advice and guidelines.

"Customers who have tickets for performances before Friday 12 March 2021 do not need to do anything. You will be contacted by the organisation from which you bought tickets to arrange an exchange for a later date next year. If that is not possible, credit notes or refunds will be available. & Juliet is now booking through to Saturday 23 October 2021.

"We are grateful to our fans for the fantastic support they continue to show during this challenging time for our industry and thank you for your patience as we work through the bookings over the coming weeks.

"We cannot wait to bring & Juliet back to life on stage and to celebrate the return of our cast, crew and audiences."

& Juliet is described as an "irreverent and fun-loving" musical that retells the classic story of Romeo and Juliet by asking: what if Juliet’s famous ending was really just her beginning?

The show features a pop score by Max Martin, with songs including Break Free (Ariana Grande), ...Baby One More Time (Britney Spears), Teenage Dream (Katy Perry) Everybody (Backstreet Boys), Can't Feel My Face (The Weeknd) and It's My Life (Bon Jovi).

The current London cast features Miriam-Teak Lee as Juliet, with Oliver Tompsett and Cassidy Janson as Mr and Mrs. Shakespeare, Melanie La Barrie as Nurse and Jordan Luke Gage as Romeo.

An original London cast recording was released in 2019, available to buy, download and stream here.
