Westminster council launches outdoor festival featuring performances from West End shows

Westminster City Council has announced an outdoor festival to help drive footfall in the West End.

Inside Out is a festival of outdoor arts which will feature open air performances, outdoor exhibitions and installations from some of the area’s top theatres, opera houses, museums and galleries.

Performances will take place in a variety of locations across the borough from Marble Arch through Leicester Square to Covent Garden Piazza.

Running from Thursday October 1 through to Sunday October 4, the programe will include a selection of open-air performances from West End musicals, the Royal Opera House, English National Opera, and the Royal Philharmonic Brass Ensemble.

There will be an open-air gallery on the National Gallery’s North Terrace, on Trafalgar Square and the first ever Mayfair Sculpture Tail launched by Mayfair Art Weekend in partnership with Art in Mayfair.

Also confirmed the festival are light projections in celebration of new life, nature, and optimism onto Marble Arch by MTArt Agency artist Claire Luxton in partnership with Marble Arch London BID and English Heritage and fluorescent light installations in Covent Garden Piazza, Piccadilly Circus, Victoria and the other West End locations by MTArt Agency artists Ben Cullen Williams and Lauren Baker.

Plus, the Photographers’ Gallery will host a free, open-air portrait studio, selfie booths and an exhibition of work produced by young people during lockdown.

Events will be ticketed in order to cap numbers and ensure social distancing. Further details will be revealed soon.
