Godspell off West End revival to open in May 2021

A revival of Godspell will open off-West End in 2021, it's been announced.

The production will play at the Ye Olde Rose and Crown Theatre between May 12 and 29, 2021.

Brendan Matthew will direct with the creative team made up of Benjamin Levy (Musical Director), Laura Hyde & Connor Lewis (Choreographers), Ashen Gupta (Associate Director/ Stage Manager), Jack Jury (Production Manager), Justin Williams (Set Design), Amelia Brightman (Costume Design), Holly Brightman (Lighting Design) and Daniel Mawson (Sound Design)

Casting is to be confirmed.

Composed by Stephen Schwartz with a book by John-Michael Tebelak, Godspell tells the story of Jesus as told in the Gospel of Matthew. With songs including 'Day By Day', 'Prepare Ye', 'Turn Back O Man' and 'Beautiful City', the show follows a community of disciples as they learn the concepts of compassion, trust, love and tolerance.

The new revival will mark the 50th anniversary of the musical which first opened in London in 1971.
