The 2020 Olivier Awards are finally on their way – here’s all you need to know!
From the nominations to the host, air date and performances, here’s your ultimate guide to The Olivier Awards 2020.
When are The Olivier Awards 2020?
The Olivier Awards will take place TONIGHT, Sunday, October 25.
This year’s virtual show will begin online via the Official London Theatre YouTube channel at 9:30PM before moving to TV on ITV at 10:20PM for those in the UK.
Outside of the UK, the entire show will stream online via the Official London YouTube channel.
There will also be a highlights show on Magic Radio from 8PM until 10PM on Monday 26 October.
Jason Manford will host this year’s show from the London Palladium.
Olivier Award 2020 nominations
You can see the full 2020 Olivier Award nominations here. Musicals including & Juliet and Dear Evan Hansen led the way with nine and seven nominations each respectively.
Alongside the competitive awards, there will be a number of special honours.
Lyricist Don Black receives the Olivier Special Award for contribution to theatre for his work on Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Aspects of Love and Whistle Down the Wind, and for music artists including Quincy Jones, Lulu, Meat Loaf and Michel Legrand.
Ian McKellen will be honoured in his 80th year for his Ian McKellen On Stage tour which has been raising money to help support theatres.
Plus, Jo Hawes, Thelma Holt, Stephen Jameson, Sarah Preece and Peter Roberts will be receiving a Society Special Award.
2020 Olivier Award performances
The show will feature musical performances from Sam Tutty of Dear Evan Hansen and Miriam-Teak Lee of & Juliet.
Plus, Sharon D. Clarke will pay tribute to Don Black with a special performance.
